Sectors

Oil and Gas

Our company has its roots in Oil and Gas with a substantial track record of working with a broad range of companies operating in the UK and internationally on projects ranging from small brownfield alterations to large onshore and offshore projects.

We supply a variety of professional engineers coupled with operational expertise to provide our clients with fit-for-purpose solutions. We are a leading authority in the design and development of both the upstream and downstream sectors, which allow us to offer our clients the best possible solutions throughout the life cycle of their assets, utilising expertise from both sectors.

We understand that both onshore and offshore developments, although fundamentally similar, have very differing challenges, with downstream being more likened to petrochemical processes.

Typical facilities and services we provide to the oil & gas sector include:

  • Conceptual studies
  • Process design
  • Mechanical and rotating equipment design
  • Project management and procurement services
  • Facilities engineering
  • Existing plant optimisation
  • Technical safety and risk engineering
  • Electrical, instrumentation, telecommunication and control systems design
  • Safety and environmental studies
  • Civil/structural engineering

Food and Drink

OLG Engineering has many years experience within the food industry. We offer a complete ‘turn key’ service which includes design, manufacture, installation and maintenance. Our clients are mainly blue chip businesses who benefit from our hands-on approach.

Thanks to our years of knowledge and experience, the management team is able to give our clients the confidence that their engineering and process needs will be met.

Chemicals

We provide high quality, independent engineering design and consultancy services for clients in the Chemical sector. With extensive experience of working in these industries, our engineers apply a multidisciplinary approach to the challenges that confront our clients on a daily basis through the operation of their facilities.

On a large or small scale, we understand the intricate details of Chemical plants; our teams have professional experience in optimising the design, procurement and construction of all Chemical facilities, including distillation, hydro-processing, hydrogen production, sulphur removal and thermal oxidiser units.

The services we tailor to cover the full design life of our clients’ assets include:

  • Plant development studies
  • Scale-up from lab or pilot plant
  • Feasibility studies
  • Debottlenecking studies
  • Project assurance and execution
  • Operational support and system optimisation
  • Emission reduction and control
  • Effluent treatment and minimisation
  • Vent treatment systems design
  • Simulation of batch and continuous processes
  • COMAH compliance
  • Hazardous area classifications
  • HAZOP and SIL assessments

Pharmaceutical

We have extensive experience and competence associated with the design and delivery of pharmaceutical sector projects requiring strict regulatory compliance and adherence to current Good Manufacturing and Engineering Practices (GxP).

We are able to offer a multi-disciplinary service across the full project lifecycle. Ranging from Process Engineering Front-End-Engineering-Design (FEED) and specification through to Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and System detailed design, installation support, commissioning and operations, examples of OLG Engineering’s ability in this sector include:

  • Design and modification projects on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) plants
  • Thermal and Catalytic Oxidiser Modifications (ThermOx/CatOx)
  • Ventilation and Scrubber Systems
  • Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) projects
  • Explosion Proof solutions
  • Control Systems design to meet current Good Automated Manufacturing Practices (GAMP)
  • Alarm Rationalisation
  • Design and integration of IEC 61511 Functional Safety Management requirements with existing GxP concepts
  • Pharmaceutical product specification compliant measurement systems

Experience of integrating with client specific Design, Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification systems (DQ, IQ, OQ and PQ).

Power/Renewables

We deliver all aspects of discipline engineering to our Power clients but have extensive experience in providing a comprehensive power protection, control system installation and commissioning service.

Our solution covers the installation and commissioning of transformers, switchgear and protection relay panels for transmission and distribution power systems.

Within the UK, electricity demand is growing, and placing increasing demands on existing transmission and distribution systems. National and regional electricity companies and major industrial consumers are embarking on major refurbishment projects to replace aged primary plant, protection and control systems. We understand the role this has in balancing the UK PLC energy and our teams have extensive experience in the design, procurement and construction of all brownfield projects.

Our engineering skills cover the full range of disciplines you need to develop your facility, including:

  • Process engineering
  • Structural engineering
  • Instrument and electrical engineering, including grid connection
  • Process control
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Stress engineering
  • Rotating equipment
